I choose my mom for the diversity story because this interview of her story they not a lot of people (including myself) don't know about. Cassandra Denise Jones story is important to me from my point view and is unknown to the audience that don't know her.
This podcast on Soundcloud was special about Cassandra's story of her family and it express creativing through my version of storytelling. The questions consist of the relationship with her family, the experience of memories she share with her family, and emotions from my mother's experience with her family.
Cassandra responses were positive and knowledgeable because of the things I haven't know about as her son. For example, my mom said, "We experience a lot of family drama during the 1967 riots in Detroit. We were the only people that are an neighborhood-owned store and they never touched it."
My mother also said, "Everybody were glad and proud because we came from a self-employed family way back in the 1800s." The best thing about what my mother said is the fact that the situation of the 1967 riot was change to a positive because of the past realization of being proud of the family businesses. It gave me a great perspective from my mother's story which was inspirational and underrated. I feel that the audience who hear the story would reflect on their relationships with their families.
